Low Phooi Kuen Stephanie was born in Kuala Lumpur,1967. She graduated from Malaysian Institute of Art in the year 1987 with diploma in graphic design. After a few years working in advertising industry Kuen decided to leave this hectic pace of life and in her 30’s discovered her passion for painting, thus her journey into the world of fine art.

The paintings of Kuen Stephanie often stirred up a sense of nostalgia and happy memories. Everyday life are narrated through her colourful canvas bringing joy and colours to her viewer.

In the year 2007, Kuen tasted her first successful Solo Exhibition titled, “The Essence of a Tropical Life in the Kampung,” at Kuala Lumpur Performance Art (KLPac). Kuen continued to pursue her new found calling and have never looked back. She has participated in numerous exhibitions since then.

Kuen was also invited to design a concept under DBKL project - KL heritage Trail 3 as part of, “River of Life.” Her series of sculpture known as ‘Chinese Paper Cut’ to provide nostalgic memories of the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur.
